Ep 133: Exploring Kentucky with Author Lisa Prysock
This week on Literary Escapes we are talking to author Lisa Prysock all about Kentucky.
Lisa’s deep research into Kentucky’s history, especially horse racing and the Gilded Age, adds rich, authentic detail to her series, Kentucky Debutantes of the Gilded Age, and brings to life the vibrant culture of Kentucky, filled with tales of horse racing, bourbon, and more.
Lisa also describes how her Christian faith influences her work, creating deeply inspirational stories. She also delves into her path from an early love for writing, intensified by a pastor’s encouragement at a prayer meeting, to becoming a successful author with nearly 60 books published.

Meet Lisa Prysock
Lisa M. Prysock is an award-winning, bestselling, Christian and inspirational author of more than 11 novels. She was born in Minnesota; raised in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Ohio as a child; and as an adult, has lived in Virginia, Tennessee, Texas, Ohio again, and Florida, before settling in beautiful, rural Kentucky near many horse farms in the countryside bordering Louisville. She and her husband of more than 20 years chose to make their home in Kentucky where the rich heritage, scenic area, local culture and history, along with her faith, are a constant source of inspiration for many of Lisa’s novels. Together, they have five children, grown.
Lisa writes romantic, sweet, wholesome, fun, adventurous, inspirational literature with humor and unexpected plot twists. Many of her books include mystery and suspense. She enjoys sharing her faith in Christ and encouraging others on their journey toward knowing Him through her writing. She believes people need and want to know how wonderful the Lord is and attributes her dream of writing coming true entirely to Him. Her theme verse is Acts 16:31, Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved–you and your household. She also adopted the slogan of “The Old-Fashioned Everything Girl” because of her love for all things Victorian, Regency, Jane Austen-ish, historical, and old-fashioned.
When she isn’t writing, she likes to cross stitch, crochet, sew, scrapbook, sketch, swim, dance, take walks, travel, explore historical homes, garden, cook for her family, play the piano and violin, and read great books. Powered by coffee, tea, and chocolate, she also loves butterflies, Victorian houses with big front porches, hats, sundresses, espadrilles, boots, and flip-flops.
